BlackBerry PlayBook battery life looks to be 10 hours with continual use

 

Been wondering just how long the BlackBerry PlayBook battery will last when you're busy browsing the web, watching movies, listening to music, sending emails ... you get it - well we have too. Up until now we haven't really been informed of just what the PlayBook was packing as far as battery life. We know that the PlayBook will be sporting a 5300mAh battery (compare that to the awesome 1550mAh battery on the Bold 9700) so it definitely has some juice. Looking closely on the Staples pre-order page we can actually see the device listed as 10 hours with continual use. So, providing that isn't just a made up number and it actually came from RIM, that means you'll have plenty of go time on the PlayBook. If it's 10 hours with continual use, we can only image what the "down time" battery life will be. Of course we won't know for sure until we get our overly-ready hands on one, but it's totally promising as of now. What do you think? Will the PlayBook battery be just plain awesome or not get the job done? Sound off in the comments!

OnTime App Promises to Help You Stay on Schedule

I cannot count how many apps I have tried over the years to make sure I keep on schedule. Still I am always open to trying a new one so when OnTime contacted me I decided to give it a spin. So far I find the app kind of cool since it works with your calendar to give you reminders and maps of your route. I don’t drive as much but it can also notify you of traffic delays and can tell your upcoming appointments if you are running late.
All in all it seems like a different spin on RIM’s BlackBerry Traffic app with more calendar focused features. Since I don’t drive on a regular basis I decided against using the app but if you find yourself on the road every day you might want to check it out. You can read up more about the app on their website or pick it up for $1.99 in App World. If you give it a spin let me know what you think since I did not have much of a chance to test out their mapping, traffic, and other features.

How To - Empty Your Phone Call Log

To empty your BlackBerry's phone call log, first make sure that Call Logging is set to "All Calls" from Phone Options --> Call Logging.

Now go to the Message List Application, and view the folder "Phone Call Logs". You can now select the top most log, and then select "Delete Prior" from the menu. This will empty your phone call log.

How To - Extend Your Battery Life

There are several things you can do to extend the life of your battery between charges.

1. Set Email Filters. Yes that's right, set some email filters to block unnecessary messages received on your handheld. The fewer wireless transmissions your BlackBerry makes, the longer your battery will last.
2. Decrease the backlight timeout and/or brightness. This is especially true for the newer 7100, and 7290 handhelds. Go to Options --> Screen/Keyboard to set the backlight options.
3. Disable wireless sync on applications that you do not use, e.g. Memopad. Is it really necessary to transmit memopad data over the air? If not, then just disable Wireless Synchronization from the Memopad Options.
4. Turn Wireless Off when you are in areas of poor coverage. The BlackBerry will greatly increase it's output in poor coverage, and this can be very draining on your battery.
5. Set the Auto On/Off. Unless you're on call 24 hours a day, chances are you won't be using your BlackBerry late at night. So set the Auto On/Off to shut your BlackBerry off.
6. Set your profiles to have the BlackBerry vibrate and ring less often. Even just reducing the number of beeps can give you a little extra battery life.

As a last resort, if your BlackBerry battery simply doesn't last long enough, you can buy an extra battery

How to Create BlackBerry App ID for BlackBerry World 2.0?

It's been a month since I launched the new BlackBerry App World 2.0. Many users have brought different situations which we have analyzed over time to bring a clearer picture. In fact, accustomed to using the PayPal login and password, the dolls have changed and now create a new ID has been for some process.

Some time ago we showed the benefits of BlackBerry ID, so refresh your memory, the BlackBerry is a login ID / login in which you can keep a record of all downloads of applications, both purchases and free, which you help in the process of change you from one BlackBerry to another and not lose those purchases you've made. When you login in to your BlackBerry BlackBerry ID will automatically search all available downloads for your new BlackBerry to be reinstated.

Some of you have had problems in setting up your BlackBerry ID, here I show the process of creation.

• In the BlackBerry App World, go to the menu and choose My World.
• Go to Create a BlackBerry ID if you have not gone through the process of creating it.
• Check the License Agreement and select I Accept to continue.
• Check the BlackBerry App World Membership Addendum and choose I Accept to continue.
• Choose the email address which will associate your new BlackBerry ID and username. The email address you will use to login to the BlackBerry App World. The user name will only appear when you do reviews of applications on the BlackBerry App World. Also choose a password which you use to enter the BlackBerry App World.
• The next step is to create a question to recover your password if you forget it. Under Password Recovery Question, write a question that only you have an answer.
• If you have previously purchased using PayPal applications on previous versions of BlackBerry App World, selected, I Have Previously Purchased items from BlackBerry World App using Pay Pal. If you have not bought any applications above, not Marques. Signup selected.
• If you selected the box above, the process will ask for the information in your Paypal account. Complete the login and password information as required by Paypal and select I Agree.
• You will receive a confirmation screen telling you that the process is validating your application list.

Once completed, you will see a confirmation that is completed. And you can use the BlackBerry App World 2.0 to download new applications and to reinstate those which had bought previously.

Forgotten Password your Blackberry ID?

In the busy world we live we must be attentive to many things, one of those things is the password you put in the different systems that are accessed daily, whether at work, social media, emails, etc. It is a bit tedious having to remember them all. On this occasion, we want to help if you do not remember the password you assigned to your BlackBerry ID.

If you've tried several times to download an application on the BlackBerry App World 2.0 and have not been successful you may receive an Error ID: 30601 indicating that the combination of Email and Password that you are using is not correct.

This error is caused by you enter an incorrect email address for your BlackBerry ID or password incorrect. In this case, verify that in fact the email address you are using is the correct one with which you created your BlackBerry ID. If you forgot your password, follow this procedure:

• Choose Forgot Password at the login screen of the BlackBerry ID
• Enter the correct email address associated with your BlackBerry ID. Choose Ok.
• A screen will confirm that you will receive email instructions to reset your password. Choose OK.
• Check your email, there you will see an email related to this reset and that email will have a link / link that will take the process to reset your password. Once you click on that link / link will open the browser on your BlackBerry and you'll see the screen where you ask the answer to the secret question you chose in the process of creating your BlackBerry ID. Enter the answer and choose which you want to be down your new password for the BlackBerry ID. Click OK.
• You will receive a confirmation screen that your password was changed successfully.
• If in the process receive a notification screen indicating the following (Your requets not can be completed. Please Ensure That your blackberry ID has-been activated and That You Have typed the correct email address), this means that the email address you used is not associated with a BlackBerry account ID so you'll have to try another email address right or create one for this.

Import and Backup Contacts in BlackBerry Messenger 5.0

Today we see how easy it is to make a backup of the contacts of our BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) and how to restore when you switch to another RIM BlackBerry handheld. Creating a backup of your list of contacts can help you save a lot of time to re-invite your friends or colleagues if you happen to lose your BlackBerry or when you switch to another model.

This guide will show you how to register your e-mail that lets you create a remote backup of your contact list, profile information and memberships to the group. To use this method you must have an associated email address to the BlackBerry smartphone.

Here's how you can back up and restore the contact list of BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.

• First Step: Register your e-mail address and creating a backup
• Open the BlackBerry Messenger;
• Press the Menu ';
• Options and scroll down to contact list;
• Select Backup
• Select Run remote backup files;
• A list of email addresses associated with the BlackBerry smartphone will appear. Highlight the preferred e-mail address, press Record;
• Click OK;

After completing these steps, your BlackBerry smartphone is automatically back up data from the BlackBerry Messenger over the wireless network.

Stage Two: Restoring data from BlackBerry Messenger

From BlackBerry Messenger is now possible to run the remote backup of the information in a new BlackBerry Messenger BlackBerry smartphone. The only requirement is that you must associate the same email address that you registered on the BlackBerry server. After associating your e-mail, follow these steps to restore your data from the BlackBerry Messenger:

• Open the BlackBerry Messenger;
• Press the Menu ';
• Options and scroll down to contact list;
• Select Restore;
• Select Restore e-mail;
• Apparira'un list of email addresses that are associated with the BlackBerry smartphone. Highlight the email address you used during the backup process;
• press OK

Once these steps have been completed, you will notice that all information in the BlackBerry Messenger is available on your new BlackBerry!
